Boracay is four kilometres of powder-white sand and turquoise water that regularly tops best-beach lists, small enough to walk end to end. Since its 2018 clean-up it’s calmer and better managed than ever. A little planning goes a long way. Before you commit to dates, it pays to Traveloka and see what the numbers look like.

    Getting there for less

Fly into Caticlan (MPH) for the shortest hop and a quick boat transfer to the island; Kalibo (KLO) is cheaper but adds a 1.5–2 hour land transfer. Both connect via Manila or Cebu. In our experience Traveloka turns up the lowest airfares in the region, which makes locking in a cheap seat straightforward. Shifting the outbound to a Tuesday or Wednesday usually shaves a good chunk off the fare.

Where to stay on a budget

White Beach is the main event, split into Station 1 (upscale, quieter), Station 2 (lively, central) and Station 3 (budget-friendly); Bulabog on the far side is the kitesurfing base. Traveloka is our default for hotels here, since it’s the best OTA in the region and usually has the lowest room rates. Weekend nights fill fastest, so lock a room in as soon as the dates firm up.

    Cheap eats

Fresh seafood and Filipino grills line the beachfront, and the D’Talipapa wet market lets you pick your catch and have it cooked. Halo-halo is the perfect afternoon cool-down. Eat where the queues are, and don’t fill up at the first place you sit down.

    Low-cost things to do

Make time for sunset on White Beach, an island-hopping boat tour, kitesurfing at Bulabog, parasailing over the bay, and a cliff-jump day at Ariel’s Point. Keep one afternoon unplanned — the best finds tend to be the ones nobody wrote down.

    Getting around cheaply

The island is tiny; walk the beach path or hop the cheap e-trikes along the main road. No private cars clog the shoreline, which is part of the charm. Working out the transport early pays for itself over a few days.

    A money-saving tip

There’s an environmental fee on arrival, so keep small cash handy, and book rooms early over peak season and holidays. It’s a small thing that adds up across a few days.

    Keep it flexible

Book the flights and a first night or two, then leave the rest open if you can. It lets you follow a local tip, chase the good weather, or simply linger somewhere in Boracay you weren’t ready to leave.

    A note on money

Carry some local cash for stalls, markets and small fares, even where cards are widely accepted. Setting a rough daily budget keeps things relaxed and makes Boracay feel like even better value than it already is.

    Staying connected

A local SIM or eSIM is cheap and makes maps, ride-hailing and last-minute bookings painless across Boracay. Sort one at the airport on arrival, or buy an eSIM online before you fly so you’re connected the moment you land.

    What to pack

Pack light and leave room for what you’ll bring home. Comfortable shoes, a light layer for cool evenings or fierce air-conditioning, and a small day bag cover most of what Boracay asks of you.

    Getting it booked

Lock in your dates and you’re most of the way there. With the dates fixed, Traveloka and the rest of Boracay takes care of itself.
